The Dromintee U13 team and large supporting party travelled to Lurgan on Tuesday evening to play a fancied St Peters team in the 2nd round of league fixtures. Conditions were ideal for fast moving football.
While Dromintee were missing a number of players through injuries and holidays the game gave the opportunity for some of the younger players to step up to the mark.
There was an air of anxiety within the Dromintee camp such was the anticipation of game and this may be the reason it took the Dromintee lads the first 15 minutes to settle into the game. Once they got into their stride the lads gradually built up a comfortable lead going in at half time 2-11 to 1-05 ahead after playing with the aid of the wind.
Tatics were reaffirmed at half time and the importance of registering the first score of the 2nd half which the lads truly responded to with a well worked team goal coming from the throw in.
From there, the team never looked back and played the 2nd half as if ever ball was dependant on to win the game. Such was the commitment, determination and passion that team showed they eventually ran out winners on a score line of 10-26 to 1-13.
While team finished strong there is still plenty to be worked on in the coming weeks. Next game will be Tuesday the 17th Vs Cullyhanna at home.
