Dromintee secured a place in the 2021 u15 Division One Championship final after a hard fought contest with an excellent Pearse Og team last Thursday evening.
Played at the neutral venue of Silverbridge on great evening for football, both teams defended strongly in a very evenly contested first half. Dromintee played down the hill on the Bridge’s top pitch in the opening period and passed up a number of shooting opportunities under pressure from the Armagh City lads.
Throughout the first two quarters the balance of possession remained even and the teams turned around level at four points apiece.
The Ogs began the second half with more purpose and opened up a two point lead by the final water break. As play entered the final ten minutes, the flow of the game looked ominous for Dromintee but an opportunist goal from Fionn Toale regained the lead and panicked the opposition.
As Pearse Og looked for a foothold back in the game a well worked team goal finished by Aidan Byrne created a four point cushion that would ultimately decide the game.
The lads in green and gold responded with three long range frees but Dromintee held out for victory by the slimmest of margins to move forward to a county final show down with Clann Eireann.
Scorers: Euan O'Neill 0-04, Aidan Byrne 1-01, Fionnan Ó Tuathail 1-00, Mícheál McCoy 0-01.
