Dromintee's division three team secured an impressive home victory over Ballymacnab on Thursday evening after a superb second half display that finally saw off a determined visiting side.
The game started brightly with the teams exchanging scores until Ballymacnab snuck in for a goal that nudged them ahead after ten minutes. Dromintee responded strongly with points from the O'Neill cousins Michael (2) and Oisin (1) before Oisin Gallagher finished the first of his hat trick on the night, right on the stroke of the water break.
With the heat showing no sign of settling, Ballymacnab took control of the second quarter. They added a further 1-02 to get to half time ahead by a point on a scoreline of Dromintee 1-05, Ballymacnab 2-03.
The home side began the second half with great purpose and a quickfire 1-01 from the dynamic Scott Harris secured a lead that Dromintee wouldn't relinquish as they played fast, composed football through the remainder of the match.
A robust defence was marshaled superbly by Davin Harris from centre half and Oisin Gallagher proved to be a persistent thorn in the side of the Ballymacnab defence. This win pushed Dromintee up to third in the league table. Dromintee 5-10, Ballymacnab 3-08.
