Dromintee U16:5 10:13 v Shane O’Neills 3:7
Dromintee wrapped up their league campaign on Monday evening last when they comprehensively beat an understrength Shane O’Neills side by a large score.
This was the Dromintee’s sixth game in the league and they have now won five of them losing out narrowly to Granemore in a keenly contested game. Their attention now switches to the championship, which this year is in a novel league format with two groups contesting.
In Dromintee’s group are Ballyhegan who they play on 5th July away before having Armagh Harps & Clan Na Gael at home in Dromintee in the final two games of the group.
These games are fixed for the 19th & 26th July respectively with the top two in each league playing in the championship semi finals on the 2nd August with the final planned for a week later on the 9th August. These dates may vary depending on the progress of Armagh Senior ladies in their own championship.
All the panel got an opportunity to impress during the game. The Championship format means the Dromintee girls will have to win most of their games and cannot afford any slip ups along the way. if the form of the league is to be taken into account then they should go into the championship holding no fears of any of the teams remaining and if they can convert the many chances they create during the games they can certainly progress far.
The teams defence has conceded the least amount of scores throughout the league from all the teams and the forwards have scored freely and it is hoped that the team will have an opportunity to compete in the latter stages of the championship.
