Final score Dromintee U17’s 5:4 St. Patrick’s Lordship 0:11.
Dromintee U17’s built upon their spirited display against St-Patricks on Monday evening when they produced their best display of football of the season to run out eight point winners over a lordship team that had beaten them two weeks previously.
In recent weeks the team has been coughing up too many goals and this needed to be addressed if the team stood to be competitive. The performance this evening when we kept a clean sheet proved the team is in the right track and can look forward to the games ahead with much better degree of confidence.
In a tight marking defence, David Kehoe was immense at full back and was well assisted by Cathal Mc Genity, Daragh O’Hanlon and Jack Conaghy who played as an extra defender and built upon his performance earlier in the week. Caoimhin O’Neill provided an intelligent link role between defence and attack cutting out ball and providing a good support to our midfield and forward line.
Up front the forwards tried hard and there was some very incisive running by Luke Kelly who finished with 3:1. There was much to like with the performance and still lots to improve upon.
The lads will finish off the week with a combined training session with U19’s on Friday at 7:30pm.
