Dromintee u15s made the long trek to Middletown on Friday evening but the journey bore fruit with the Division 3 team clinching their first win of their league campaign.
The hosts started strongly, registering early points with the aid of the breeze but Dromintee reeled them back to get parity by the water break and to lead by half time.
More direct play in the second half created chances more easily for the visitors and three goals in the final quarter finally broke the resistance of a determined Middletown team.
The young Dromintee team were led ably by Oisin O’Neill and Cody Conlon, with both lads winning the lion’s share of possession and contributing strongly in attack. The bench made a significant contribution to a second half performance that displayed some excellent football.
