Dromintee 3:8 (17) v Ballyholland 6:6 (24)
A strong second half performance against the elements meant that the margin of defeat was significantly closer and if the home side had converted some of the gilt edged chances they created then perhaps the score could have went in their favour. The home side played with the strong wind but it was a difficult wind to play with and the home side could only take 1:3 in scores with the goal coming from an expertly taken penalty by Diarmaid O’Rourke. At the other end the visiting side ran in four goals on top of the four first half points to open up a ten point gap at the short whistle. The home side had played disappointingly often standing off their opponents and allowing them to dictate the play. On the resumption the team got their running possession together & attacked theBallyholland rear guard and opened them up on numerous occasions and only for some very poor shooting could have made the game a lot closer. Goals from Cillian Mc Crink, Ruben O’Rourke and two second half points by the overlapping wing half back Keane McArdle and a fine point by Cody Conlon get Dromintee well in the contest. Ballyholland for their part found playing with the wind not as easy as playing against it but they still got in for two well taken goals to run out winners. A good competitive second showing by the home team and with a little better accuracy could have recorded their first win of the season.
