Dromintee u14 girls produced a battling performance away from home this evening to push division one opponents Silverbridge to the pin of their collar, coming up short by just the kick of a ball.
The girls made life very difficult for their more vaunted opponents by putting them pressure all over the pitch and with ten minutes to go the Dromintee side led by three points. A heroic defensive effort won ball back consistently and Silverbridge struggled with the pace of Nicola Campbell, Allana O’Neill and Skye Muldoon up front.
As the game came down to the wire, to their credit, the girls pushed for home and created the lion’s share of scoring chances. Lady luck deserted the visitors in this period with several chances going begging, including a penalty in the closing minutes.
Irrespective of the final score, Dromintee u14s demonstrated their potential by standing toe to toe with one of the strongest division one teams in the county.
