Yesterday saw the first win of the Dromintee u12.5s girls league campaign and didn’t they do it in style. Against a good Crossmaglen team the girls got a great start when Grace Conlon scored her first point after some wonderful team play. Moments later came a well worked goal from Emma Toale which was quickly followed by points from Sadhbh Mc Keever and another two from Grace Conlon, who was on fire.
The Dromintee defence was solid throughout the game with goalkeeper Sarah Murphy, a full back line of Caitlin Carnegie, Cara Harris and captain on the day Eimer Murphy and the half back line of Anna Bergin, Kacie O Donoghue and Clodhna Byrne. The midfield pairing of Grace Gallagher and Sadhbh Mc Keever, helped by half forward Megan Byrne proved to be a great springboard for our forwards as two points and a goal from Alanna O Neill and a Lilly Mc Bennett goal saw the half-time score at 3-6 to 0-0.
Crossmaglen came more into the game after half-time and notched up two goals and two points against the wind but our defence stood strong in the end. While up front the Dromintee forwards kept the scoreboard ticking along with points from Alanna O Neill, Caoimhe Byrne, Lilly Mc Bennett and Emma Toale. Two more Dromintee goals from Emma Toale and Alanna O Neill rounded up an impressive win with the score ending up Dromintee 5-10 to Crossmaglen 2-2.
