Dromintee U16 girls 2:7 (13) Killeavy U16 girls 7:6(27).
The old adage that goals win games was clearly evident this evening when Killeavy U16 girls beat the Dromintee U16 girls team in a keenly competitive outing. Dromintee started brightly with goals from Grainne O’Rourke & Sarah Graham to hold a seven point lead. Killeavy first three scores were all goals which brought them right back into the game. From the middle of the first half Killeavy brought the game to the visitors and established a ten point interval lead to go in at halftime 5:3 to 2:2 ahead. Dromintee management asked for a determined second half performance and they got it with the players all competing well in the second half scoring five scores each albeit Killeavy again got in for two goals whereas Dromintee were unable to convert their possession into similar scores at the other end. Dromintee added five points in the second half but poor handling, shot selection meant they weren’t able to trouble the Killeavy net minder. It was a good workout nevertheless and it’s unlikely that the team will meet much stronger opposition than they did tonight in the season ahead.
Next up we are on the road again v Shane O’Neills U16’s next Monday 27th July in Camlough.
