Dromintee u13s had another useful outing on Sunday morning to prepare for the upcoming Armagh league. This time parents had their lie in ruined by an early start to head for Clann Eireann.
Played across three periods of twenty minutes, all 22 players present played at least a half hour of football and demonstrated that most of the lockdown rust has been shook off at this stage.
Although the team played some great attacking football, the opening period was most notable for a tenacious display in defence against very skilful Clann Eireann attackers – led ably by the impressive Odhran McCann, Odhran Carnegie and Daithi McCreesh. The quality of the team’s defending ensured that the Lurgan lads were held to only three points.
The second period followed a similar pattern but faster movement of the ball through the middle third meant the Dromintee men were able to create space up front for goals with Conor Graham and Gavin O’Rourke ending up with one apiece.
The final period opened up a little and the spread of scorers increased, including a fine point for Neil Evans to reward his hard work throughout and a clinical goal for Scott Harris. Cousins Keane McArdle and Oisin Byrne combined to good effect in attack for most of the game.
Blocks:
