Dromintee U16 girls got their first taste of competitive action when they took on St.Pats Lordship in a useful challenge match this evening. Both teams used the run out to fine tune their preparations for the season ahead and played the game over three twenty minutes periods, so as to give everyone in their panels a run out.
Dromintee opted to play against the elements twice which made their challenge even more difficult. Over the hour the visitors notched up some fine scores and played some neat combination football linking defence and attack excellently.
Dromintee used 20 players over the hour with players interchanging regularly throughout the game. The home side finished the game well & got in for a number of goals to whittle down the 12 point lead that Dromintee had held going into the final third.
At the final whistle Dromintee were ahead by the minimum but the girls knew that this was a very useful challenge as they prepare to take on near neighbours Killeavy on Monday night next. If they can sort out things at the back & capitalise on the amount of chances they created up front and not be as wasteful then it promises to be a season where they can be very competitive and possibly cause a few upsets.
