The 2020 Season resumed for Dromintee u13s over the past few days as the lads visited Monaghan for two excellent challenge matches to shake off some rust ahead of the start of the Armagh leagues.
On Thursday evening there was an early start for everyone to make it to Clontibret for a 6.45pm throw in.
The teams were very evenly matched and a lot of quality in attack and defence resulted in a 0-10 to 0-06 win for the visators. Clontibret proved to be big and robust opponents but Dromintee moved the ball well to keep control of the play for most of the hour.
On the night, Gavin O’Rourke was exceptional in defence and both Keane McArdle and Fionnán Ó Tuathail carried the biggest attacking threat.
On Saturday morning the lads were on the road to the Farney county again for a match with Monaghan Harps.
Another thoroughly enjoyable game of fast football ensued and our lads once again made light of a size difference.
Conor Laverty put in an excellent performance in defence and Fergus Toale was responsible for much of Dromintee’s possession as Oisin Byrne scored freely up front.
Over the course of the two games, 23 of the 24 player panel played with only the injured Kurt Conlon unable to field.
Over the next week, the u13s will play Ballyholland at home and Clann Eireann away to prepare for The first round of the Armagh league at home to Mullaghbawn on Tuesday 28th July.
