Dromintee attended the Joe and Nanny Kearney U12.5 tournament in Ballyholland on Saturday.
Due to a late withdrawal Dromintee entered a second team and were the only club to do so.
Our second team were pitted in a tough group, playing against strong first teams from other clubs but battled hard and were a credit to the jersey with their workrate and determination throughout. They progressed to the shield semi final but lost out narrowly to a strong Annaclone side.
The first team topped their group with victories over Annaclone, Glenn and Ballyholland to set up a cup semi final against neighbours Killeavy. A hard earned victory over Killeavy meant they progressed to the final against hosts Ballyholland.
However it was not to be in the final. Despite being the dominant team and creating a host of chances the ball would just not go over the bar and they lost out by the narrowest of margins.
So another narrow final defeat for this group but important to note that they are continually competing at cup level in the final stages of tournaments and if they can continue with the hard work at training the rewards will eventually come.
Many thanks to Ballyolland for the invite and congratulations to them on their win and another very well run tournament.
