Dromintee continue winning streak in Sarsfields

Dromintee climbed to the top of the Division 1B league table this evening with an impressive 12-point win away to Sarsfields. The South Armagh side came running out out of the blocks and opened up a three-point lead in the early stages.
Jack McArdle opened the scoring followed by Fergus Toale and Cathal O’Neill points. Sarsfields got on the scoreboard with their opening score through Callum McGibbon before Jack McArdle converted a free to regain Dromintee’s three-point advantage.
Paul McGeown got the first two-pointer of the evening when he took a pass on the edge of the arc and split the posts with a fine effort off his left foot. It was all Dromintee for the remainder of the first half and they further increased their lead with scores from Micheal McCreesh, O’Neill, Michael Walker and Diarmaid O’Rourke.
Aaron Lennon pulled one back for the home side but it was the Sarsfields goalkeeper Stephen McArdle who kept his team in the game at the end of the first period with a fine penalty save after a foul inside the box.

Dromintee started the second half as they did the first and it was the substitute Calvin Mooney who opened the scoring with a point followed by a long range two-pointer. Eoghan McKeever increased the score once more before Lennon got his second point of the game.
Goals
Sarsfields at this stage were chasing goals and it was a fine piece of play by Paul McGeown who found space on the 21m line and played a well timed pass into the path of Luka Donnelly who palmed the ball into the net for the first major of the game.
Dromintee responded in fine fashion after the goal and got the next six points of the game including a second 45m pointed score from their goalkeeper Dylan McGahan Malone.
Michael Stevenson got on the scoresheet for Sarsfields but from the resulting kickout Dromintee made their way up the field with crisp hand passing and fast running and got behind the Sarsfields defence to grab thier only goal through Michael O’Neill to finish the game off as the whistle was blown to end the game.
