DROMINTEE U12s WIN CULLOVILLE BLITZ.

On Saturday, Dromintee took part in the annual Culloville Blitz held in memory of Malachy Watters and John Wilson.
The tournament was split into 2 sections, U12 and U11, and Dromintee entered a team in both.

Our U11 team competed extremely well, winning all 3 of their group games against Crossmaglen, Kilkerly and Shamrock Gaels to progress to the semi final of the cup section where they lost narrowly to eventual winners Killeavy.

The U12 team also competed extremely well in their group, with wins over Crossmaglen, Ballymacnab and Shamrock Gaels, to progress to the semi final of the cup competition. All of the U12 squad played a part in the wins at group stage.
An excellent victory over Granemore set up a final against a strong Cullyhanna outfit who are very familiar foes.
Dromintee had come up short against this Cullyhanna team in previous tournaments and were determined to come out on the right of the result his time around. Luckily they had saved their best football football for the final, and with great determination, played some excellent free flowing football and kicked some outstanding long range points to earn a well deserved victory.

Congratulations to all the boys who took part today. The record for both teams today as a whole was played 9 games, won 8, which is an excellent reflection of the hard work this outstanding group of lads have put in all year.

The tournament is held in memory of Malachy Watters, an uncle to two of our players, Fionnan and Daithi O Rourke, and it was fitting that the two boys were presented with the cup in front of a very proud mum.

A huge thanks to Culloville for another well run tournament.
